Accommodation:
Pausing At the Threshold:
Opportunity through, with, and for Self-Study of Teaching and Teacher Education Practices
The theme for the Castle 2023 biennial meeting asks self-study researchers to mindfully pause and purposefully reflect as to how we might realize the contributions the Self-Study of Teaching and Teacher Education (S-STTEP) community has made, is making, and could make to different communities and audiences. Drawing from the metaphors of threshold and becoming, we invite the S-STTEP community to explore the “powerful potential for speaking and contributing” (Berry, 2020, p. 4) to teacher education and to broader communities of practice and audiences.
Submitting the full paper for peer review
All accepted proposals must be developed into a 4000 word paper for the conference book. Please note, we have accepted more proposals than can be accommodated at the conference, knowing that full papers will undergo another round of blind peer review for acceptance of the full paper.
Authors are expected to submit a full paper into the EasyChair system for a second round of reviews no later than October 1, 2022. All authors will be expected to participate as peer reviewers for paper submissions.
Follow these steps to submit your paper.
1. Prepare the paper as a PDF document using these guidelines:
2. Log on to the Castle 14 site at EasyChair
Please note that the submission site for the full papers is the same as the site for the proposals. The only difference is that you will be making a new submission for your full paper rather than amending your previous submission. You can still use your EasyChair account you created for uploading the proposal, just make sure you are making a new submission once you are logged on. DO NOT UPDATE YOUR OLD (PROPOSAL) SUBMISSION.
If you have already updated your previous proposal submission with the full paper, please make a new submission with your full paper. Thank you!
3. Create a new submission
Once you are logged on to the EasyChair site, you will need to select new submission from the menu at the top right hand of the page. Once again:

Follow these steps to submit your paper.
1. Prepare the paper as a PDF document using these guidelines:
- Format the paper in the following way:
- The maximum length of the paper is 4,000 words, not including the list of references.
- All headings and subheadings should be lower case except for the first word. All should be flush left.
- Single space all text.
- Indent first line of a new paragraphs, do not double space between paragraphs.
- Use Times New Roman 12 point.
- Follow APA 7th edition format for referencing, and make sure your references are complete and accurate.
- ANNONYMISE this draft by removing ALL identifying information and references from the text. For the blind peer review process cite yourself in text with (Author/s, masked) and mask all references to your own work in your alphabetized references as "Author/s, details will follow in final version". If you reference more than one piece of work which could identify you or co-authors, use "Author/s, masked 1, (then 2, 3, etc), details will follow in final version." Make sure you keep a track of these to be reinserted in the final version
- Please do not use any of the following:
- Running Heads
- Running Footers
- Page Numbering
- Footnotes or Endnotes created using specialized software
- Reference lists created using bibliographic software
- Ensure any graphics, including figures and tables, are of high quality and easily manipulated in PDF format. We will do our best to include any graphics included with submissions, but are dependent on the quality of the graphics submitted.

3. Create a new submission
Once you are logged on to the EasyChair site, you will need to select new submission from the menu at the top right hand of the page. Once again:
- Fill in the author details. You can automatically fill in your details if you click where it says click here to add yourself. You will also need to add the other authors' names if there are any.
- In the next section called "Title, Abstract and Other Information", enter the title of your paper and, in the abstract box, write a 250-word abstract. You will also need to enter three keywords in the next box (make sure you enter each key word on a new line).
- NOTE: You will need to slightly change the title of your paper from your initial submission (e.g. add "full paper" to the title) in order for EasyChair to accept your new submission.
- In the section called Upload Paper, you can then attach your document written in step one. Please note that the system will only upload PDF documents.
